Hi Everyone - I'm finally back on line. A lot has gone on with us in the last couple of months. We sold the farm we were living on and had closing a couple of weeks ago. On Wed. we had the closing on our grocery store in Weedsport. We put up a "manufactured home" on our other farm (just north of where we lived) which previously had only heifer barns. Now we're down to just 70 acres, the 2 barns and our new house, which I just love! We moved in Oct. 30 and I'm still trying to get settled. By the way, Lorna's cousin, Alfred Lanphere and his wife Irene, bought our home farm. Rose, So sorry to hear about your Mom. Ron & Di - How are you both doing? Would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Love...........

Bubba, Cool Hand Duke, some things never change.... I remember some of the ice fishing trips to the camp at Ducks Pond... you were whipping us then with your card playing prowess....the only difference was that "Cool Hand Luke" had not been thought of then and made into a movie....best of luck when you get to Atlantic City....Don't forget the rubber cigar and shades..... Barb.... we hope you enjoy your trip to LV .. wish we could make it over to see the competition but I am not able to spend but a short time in an auto at this time...a side to Hoover dam would be enjoyable and if you have time for the Grand Canyon take it... you will never forget it...best of luck to Brenda for us ... we will all be waiting to hear the results upon your return.....great home page again Joan... have enjoyed them all and Judy, have a safe trip to back to Texas... we will be in Corpus for a few days in January checking out hotels for our next reunion.....by the way, we had here in Fallbrook over the last week 9.3 inches of rain.... broke a 1886 record and our average for Oct.. is .03 inches...go figure.. hehe....Friday 10/29/04 8:45pm

We got thru the Hurricanes, but with a great deal of damage to our homes.I have been working on three houses nonstop since. My Mothers, mine and my friend Izy's, some major damage to mine and Izys. Both storms hit us dead on the head, they centered within five miles of each other. We stayed thru both but wouldn't do it again, the aftermath was to difficult.A, week without power or water and no place to buy gas, food or water

to the Welch's .... thanks for the great pictures....Bob, you probably could sell a few of them to the local artists to paint.....we especially liked the last one of the Falls...and the pic of the trees ...Phyl...we are happy you found your diamond and that all is well.... wish we could be there just to enjoy a NY apple and pear,we also liked the pic of you on the Seadoo..it is huge...looks like you could carry passengers...was it taken in Ontario???Whoops, just remembered that Phyl and Ron don't have a computer... maybe someone could print this off and give to her if you see them....Joan, we are glad that Fred is home with you and that things are going as well as can be expected....it doesn't look like you are in any danger soon of another attack my Mother Nature...we sure hope not for all of you living in FL... I was watching Fox News this afternoon and heard of the fire in New Port Richey aboard the Casino Boat...just caught the last of it...didn't hear if any were hurt...Diane is doing ok... she had a terrible reaction this last time from the chemo....the bottoms of her feet looked and blistered like she had walked the length of a bed of hot coals...she could bearly walk for a few days, also the ends of her fingers blisteded and split....the week that she was off the blisters left and fingers started to heal....the Dr. kept her from restarting the chemo this past week til Tues, and told her to quit a couple of days early....that will be this Thur....hopefully she doesnt have to go thru it again like before... I am going in to get my other knee done in the morning...looking forward to it as it has gotten worse these last few weeks....If anyone ever said that this getting old was a cakewalk, I would like to have him by the throat right now......keep us up todate on Fred's progress...Maybe, just maybe we will be able to spend an afternoon or so with you in February...Danielle is a Senior this year and she will be competing again with her dance team defending there National Title at Disneyworld ..we are flying to Orlando on the 3rd of February to watch her compete and will be leaving on the 7th..OH! one more thing that we are happy about here in San Diego County, On Friday we tied the old record of 180 days of not having any rain.....On Saturday we set a new record of 181 days of no rain, and at 2am this morning it started to rain and I measured 1.2inches in my rain gauge..I wasn't sure if it was going to work...but it did..hehe anyways outlook good for more rain tonite and tomorrow......whew, bye......10/17/04 5:35 PDT

Hello everyone. The last time I wrote a message was after Charley. Now 3 more hurricanes later, we are still in Florida although we've been to Alabama (to miss Frances) and then to Weedsport on the 10th of Sept (to miss Ivan and Jeanne). It has been a wild couple of months. Although the highlight was the wedding! Andy and Stef were married on Sept. 25th (just 5 days before our 37th anniversary). It was an outrageous, gorgeous, upscale, fantastic event. And I can say so because we had nothing to do with it (except the rehearsal party) but eat, laugh, party and dance. And we are good at that!!!! Since we have been back in Fl. (Wed. 9/29), all we have done is put stuff back in order. I stuffed miscellaneous things in drawers and cupboards and now I can't find things. I'll be weeks getting the gardens in shape. It serves me right for being a "plant nerd" (someone who can't turn down a plant - even a sick one and wants one of every variety imaginable). Lorna

I'm glad our Fla. residents all survived the hurricane. My mother and sister and brother-in-law live on Singer Island near West Palm Beach and they had to go to the mainland during the hurricane. Fortunately their homes were o.k. but they were without power for about 10 days. They still don't have water that's safe to drink! I pray that everyone has survived the next round of storms (Ivan) and will not be hit by the new one. It's windy here today and we are being told that the mountain communities will have rain and flood damage from Ivan.

Hi Everyone: I hope all in FL have survived the three very major hurricanes. Now I know why I settled in good ol' NY state.. I can handle cold and snow a lot better then hurricanes and earthquakes. All is well here. Just getting ready for old man winter. Seriously, I am happy that all is well with our extended class in FL. Dick and Judy

Tropical Storm Frances was like "The Terminator" - it just went on, and on - you would think it was gone, and then it was BACK ! We lost power in our area for 16 hours, but we had a generator which gave us one room with air conditioning, a light, and one TV which allowed us to watch the local news, and know what was going on all around us. We had very strong wind gusts; surprisingly the worst ones were before the storm actually arrived, and then again, after the main section of the storm had supposedly left. Many of us were really caught off-guard, when we thought it was over, and we had made it through the storm, when the next day brought yet more pouring rain, flooding, and gusts of damaging winds. Fred and I were lucky to have very little damage done to our roof, and a little fencing caved in where we keep our garbage can, but a tremendous number of Pine Tree branches, and cones have loaded up our lawn, and what a mess that will be to pick up. I packed 3 huge 50 gallon bags full last night until it was too dark to work out there. I had been over to my parents' house earlier, working on part of their roofing which had come off. On the news, they showed so many things going on, including a group of Senior Citizens lined up in their wheelchairs, in deep water. They were being evacuated from an assisted living center, and the water was deep enough, that it was over the knees of the people assisting them. There are no cellars in the houses in Florida, so people can only go to an enclosed room containing no windows for shelter from the wind. If I receive any information from our classmates concerning this storm, we will post it at the top of our Bulletin Board. Also, we would love to hear from our classmates directly, if they could jot us a note on this Message Board. Thank you all for your great support ! ...Joan and Fred ... 9-8-04

Hi All,I have just talked with my daughter (9PM) in Winter Garden, west of Orlando. Plenty of rain, no wind yet, just the interminable wait for what is to come. Sandbagged, some water in; crowded with everything inside and trying to keep the 3yo boy occupied. The gated community kept the gates open so that when the power goes off, it will be possible to get in and out. Apparently as is so often true in emergency situations someone robbed a bank and was attempting to escape, went through the open gate at a high rate of speed. Being unfamiliar with the layout, they went straight in, up a slight incline and apparently became airborne, and into the lake. Earlier today as many police were there, many of the residents went to observe as well as to break the monotony. They had divers who recovered two bodies although the third has robber had escaped. A couple of security systems wnet off in the area and police checked out those homes. Great, the residents are watching and the robber is raiding their homes! It did provide some excitement, a bit of relief from the anxiety they all feel. Hope the rest of you have been able to take cover, hunkered down to protect yourselves from major harm. Watching all this doesn't make me fret over shoveling snow ... Our prayers are with you all, Alicia

Hi, Just a note to let you all know that my friend Bill and I spent a great weekend at Barb and Bob's in PA. Their home is beautiful a truly great reflection of both of their tastes and combined tastes. We had a real laugh on the way down. We are driving along when Bill let out a little gasp then started to laugh - just about that time I saw it too - First time I was ever mooned and man what a moon. Bill said he wishes we could bet his name and send him a note as he has given us a lot of laughs. Barb and Bob are both very good cooks and great hosts (hostess). The lake their home on is beautiful and so peaceful. We visited a winery , yes we bought a couple. Went for a ride and saw the town and story behind Jim Thorpe. Went for a boat ride, sorry to say they do not have a pontoon boat (did I get that in Bob?) They kept apologizing for the weather on Sat. but it was only rain. It does not really dampen your spirits when you are with friends. Look forward to going again (warning to the Welch's).

Hello everyone. We are fine and had only minimal damage. Some trim in the back of our house was peeled up. On Friday there was a mandatory evacuation of all moblile home parks so we packed up my parents and some miscellaneous stuff and shuffled over to a our friend's house in Deltona. Although it looked like Charley was heading straight for us, we only got the west side. Communities to our east were hit harder. Mostly it was only an aggravation compared to Punta Gorda & Port Charlotte. Our clean up will go on for days and it will be weeks before all yard refuse will be picked up. Parts of Deltona are still without electricity and the Deltona Golf and Country Club (where Carl works)has an estimated 300 trees knocked down. My cousin, David O'Hara, had a large tree fall on the back of his house - which punctured a large limb through the ceiling of his Florida room. With heavy rains for the following 3 days it made quite a mess. We are very fortunate and thankful that our electricity came back on Saturday afternoon. It has been beastly hot and humid and I feel sorry for all those without a/c. But mostly our minds are on the BIG wedding plans in September. Our son, Andy, (who is 36) is getting married (for the 1st time) to Stefania Caputo. The wedding will be in Middletown and the reception in Poughkeepsie. It looks like a great time and we are excited. My parents at the ages of 89 and 90 will be flying up to NY with us for the BIG event. My dad, by the way, just bowled a 714 series (of 4 games.) A few weeks ago he bowled a 234 game. Maybe in 25 years I will be able to raise my average to 130 but I won't count on it. (Although I did bowl a 206 game last season) That's it! That's all from Orange City - a city that was touched by Charly. Lorna

We taped up the sliding glass doors, brought in the outdoor things which could potentially become "Missiles", filled several containers with water including the bathtub, brought in the furniture from the lanai, and stacked them on a huge rag in the living room, disconnected the computers to take with us, put the things which were on the floor up on top of something, including several drawers containing papers and clothing, gathered up some of the precious photos and jewelry ( gotta love those "Ziplocs" ), packed medical equipment and pills, got the generator into the truck - oh, so many things - and we were ready to leave, when we saw on the news that "Charlie" had "wobbled", and shortly after that, had changed his course - saving us from the destruction and grief that others in the hurricane's new path were so unfortunately unable to avoid. We want to thank all of you who sent your best wishes and prayers our way -- we appreciate your kind thoughts. What a super class ! Take care everybody -- Joan and Fred -- 8-14-04

USA - Hi Guys, Joan you are really a jewel to keep this website active and up to date. I read my e-mail rather seldom and was so surprised to have a message from you and wonder how you keep up with everything. You asked about our recent earthquake which I fortunately missed while driving from a friend's house just 5 minutes away. Art said it was the hardest jolt he has felt. This from a guy who experienced one on the 24th floor of a swaying building several years ago. This is not to say our "shakes" are over as all of So. Cal. has recently been warned of an impending big shaker. Wouldn't it be great if that was it because there was no damage that I know of. Some magazine stacks fell over that shouldn't have been there in the first place. We are having our usual overcast May&June weather which I like a whole lot. We'll have enough sun the rest of the year. I hate hot weather which we seldom get so we stay very close to home all summer. We are forced to go to LA in July for a few days. I say forced because it is a fun place to go but getting there is a major traffic jam whenever you go. I hope whoever went to reunion dinner had a good time and looking forward to photos. Thanks Joan again for your tech talent and keeping us all informed. I am a horrible correspondent but think of all of you often. I expect to be home (Auburn) in Oct. for Art's 50th reunion from SYR Law School. We are really getting old! How did that happen? Love to all, Essie

USA - Hi everyone, The year we have a lot of news starting with our oldest daughter, Brenda ReSue, she lives in Elmira, NY, she is a city firefighter and parimedic. She decided to try the firefighter challenge. She went to Deerfield, FL. to compete. A woman has to do the challenge in 6 mins., Bren did it in 5:56. Last week we went with her to Ocean City, Maryland, she wasn't feeling very well but went out anyway and better her time by 2sec. Today she is in Myrtle Beach, So. Carolina, she just called, she did it in 4:43, bettered it by 1:12, we are so proud. If you go to www.firefighterchallenge.com and click on results and photo, scroll down to women you may see her name as #1 in the nation. She was last week. We'll be going to Los Vegas in Nov. for the world games. If anyone would like to e-mail her it's medicbren78@aol.com Just a bragging Mom. Hope everyone is well and your summer is going great. Thanks for letting me share. Oh, Jenny went to summer last week also and competed in the track and field events. She ran a 100 dash and a 200 dash and placed 3rd both times. She still swims but wanted to run in competition this year. The games were on Long Island again.

I have a couple in mind now but will have to send you an email in private...hehe.....we learned of Joe last month... It is always a sad time when you lose a close friend and classmate...I am the database coordinator for my ship association, I also receive information weekly of past shipmates that passed... not easy to take them from our Roster and place on a deceased list...we find solice in being able to memorialize them at our reunions at a memorial service that we conduct where each name is read and a ships bell rang in there honor...we have a bagpiper and final taps is played to end our service... very moving...like it or not the bagpipe stands the hair on your arm straight up......Keep checking in and good luck with your planning...we have talked some preliminary plans just have to convey to some of the local classmates to implement.... USA - Hi to everyone! This note from a Class of '58 alumni. A group of 11 from class of '58 met last Saturday at Brenda's Diner in Port Byron (Route 31). We have been meeting at least a couple of times a year. One thing we're working on is our 50th reunion in 2008!!! Currently we're trying to come up with a name for our "ladies group". Be careful Ron B. I've got this notion you might give us some "suggestions". On a sadder note, I also wanted to let you know that we lost Joe Nicoletti Easter weekend. He had been dealing with diabetes (lost both his lower legs in the last four years). He dealt with dialysis three times a week for several years. He said last year at our reunion that it was starting to effect his eyesite. It was wonderful to have Joe at our 45th reunion last year. Joe lived in Clay, NY with his wife and had five grown children. I check out your site periodically and find it very interesting, especially the pictures. You all look great and aging gracefully at that! Rose - I can't wait to check out the bakery at the Mall. I'm glad you mentioned it in your email. I still fondly remember visiting your family and your sweet Mom and Dad at the shoe shop. Happy Spring everyone. Bonnie, Class of '58

I joined the boyscouts and we met on Monday nights and the meeting got out at 9, she had a fit...I used to run home so I could watch "I love Lucy" ahhh! those were the days..I might add that you were a knockout in that strapless evening gown..seeing the pic at the bottom of your pics, you haven't changed a bit except for putting a little color in your hair.....Connie, happy that you are back on the job and all is going well, just wish we could have been in FL together but then again maybe FL couldn't have handled a couple of high steppers like us....we sure had a good time and would look forward to doing it again...for those of you that are thinking about next year , there isn't a better hostess than our Joan.....she covered all the bases and showed us a great time....things are going ok here, Diane's tumor has shown some activity, a couple of c'meters larger this last Cscan, but she is still able to stay on the Clinical trial and in good spirits...we are enjoying our spring and all of our flowers..I have been busy on the back "acher" cleaning off the land, trimming trees to a height where I don't get knocked out of the tractor seat, if I am watching the disc behind me...I am making us our own park... with paths, flower beds, bird houses and feeders, our property is on a slope and in the middle of all of this I am cutting our a piece and leveling it to put in a croquet court, badminton, bocce ball, any of those FAST games that people our age play...I am stretching it with the badminton... that will work if I don't have to take more than 2 steps right or left...ohh the knees!!!! We are looking forward to a trip to Reno NV in Sept. for another of my ship's reunions..Kirk and Elsie, and my brother Dude(Rodney) and Penny will be joining us on a Tuesday evening for one of our events which will be a dinner, dance on boat on Lake Tahoe...If you haven't seen the Lake, It is one of the most beautiful in the world....and in Sept. it will be a crisp evening for sure...the altitude there is 6200 ft..well I have rattled on long enough here .... sure wish we could get some more people yakking on here...later....4/15/04 tax day

Auburn, NY USA - Hi all, Saw your pictures of the other reunion in Florida. You all look great. I guess we must all look okay as everybody knew who everybody else is/was. I did have a great time in Florida - but who wouldn't with Lorna & Carl and Grace and Cerd (catch that we are on a first name basis now - guess that means I have reached a certain age). Enjoyed the trip to Silver Springs that Joan was nicely planned. Laughed and remembered so many good times. Looking forward to our next session. I was 10 days in Florida and learned to play Mexican dominoes - I was taught by the best and believe me you don't want to win over Grace (she is a very sore looser). I bowled with Lorna on her Dad's league - what fun. had not bowled in years and didn't do too bad - of course we laughed a lot and poked fun at others (they probably were poking fun at us too!). All in all I am looking forward to a trip south next year. I am still working and will for a couple more years as the $ sure makes it easier to live. I was sick and in the hospital for 10 days - had some emergency surgery on February 13 (it was a Friday)and all seems to have worked out okay. I am going back to work Monday, April 5. I probably will have to be retrained but my boss calls everyday to be sure I'm coming along okay - can't ask for more then that. My sister was her for three weeks and helped me. She lives in Michigan and Ohio and we don't see her very often. Funny as you age how good family is and how much you have in common. Laugh, cry, argue, laugh, laugh etc. etc. anyway that is the way my family is. Well I have bent your ears/eyes enough - thanks to all those who called, visited and wished me well. Sure helps! In the words of my friend Red = God Bless! CB

USA - Hello everyone. . . Here is wishing you all the best that the season has to offer for friends and family. Rose, how exciting that there is a new bakery business. I hope all goes well. They expect to add two new stores at the mall that have been outstanding in other places, and they expect it will draw many visitors. What better place to have a bakery. I forgot to mention that when I talked with Denny Salisbury that he told me he has also joined the ranks of the retired. Of course, he is playing gigs with his band around the area. He also mentioned that Champ and Michelle had put off their marriage for a year because of current 'circumstances'. Ron, at least snow melts .. fires and those shakes are too threatening. The last major earthquake in LA shook my son abruptly out of the top bunk . . . while in the kitchen dumped things like flour and baking ingredients out of cupboards into the middle of the floor. Back east, we are still waiting to hear about today's 6.5 damage that hit Southern Cal. Alicia

New Market, Ia USA - For those that live in the Auburn area, Judy and I agree with Connie that we ought to have a get together for the holidays. As we have not heard from anyone on this subject we thought it would be nice to have some munchies and drinks at our house on Sat. the 27th of Dec. Anyone one interested please let me know by Monday the 22nd so that we know how many to expect. If you don't live in the area but will be here visiting friends and relatives you would be welcome as well. Just let us know. You can either email us or phone at 315-252-1933. Auburn, NY USA - Hi Jud.....glad that you made it home safely....sounded like quite a trip.. one that even I wouldn't enjoy...I still have nightmare's of driving in the cold and snow..you sure can't beat these warm climates.... as alot of our classmates are finding out as they are starting to drift south to the land of sea and sun.....I was planning on surprising Di with a trip to FL for the second get together on the 13th of Feb... but having to coordinate the time with her Dr. on this study is a chore that I cannot handle, so had to let her in on my secret... so if it works out we are planning on spending a few days in FL in Feb....looking forward to seeing all that can make it.... I have put the bug in Haji's ear so maybe he can make it down also.....anyways we hope it works out for us as we have some friends from Weedsport and also Fallbrook that we would like to visit....plus a change of heat will do us good.... everyone have a nice holiday and God Bless

SAN ANTONIO, TX USA - Hi all, I have been remiss in not reporting sooner, but we got what we feel is some good news after the results of Di's last CATscan.... the smaller of the 2 tumors has decreased in size and the larger stayed the same but in a different configuration...so the decision was made for Diane to stay on the study at this time...we had an enjoyable Thanksgiving with kids, grandkids, and great grandkid....Wow, I sure could use one of the lunch tables out of the old cafeteria on Jackson ST.....our dining area would not handle the crowd so it was dinner on the patio....worked out just great...we have adjusted to a get ready for Christmas mode and proceeding on schedule, with a big push this weekend to decorate.....I had a phone conv. with Haji the other nite and Joan today and I threw into the ring for discussion the possibility of having our 50th(49th)depending on how you count it, with the Class of 56.....there has been no discussion with them as of yet, but thought it might make for a better time keeping in mind we aren't getting any younger... hehe.....just a suggestion ... lets here some feedback... still time to think about it....but not to soon to start talking.....hoping to here from you all soon.....Ron Friday 12/05/03 11:00pm PST

Aubutn, NY USA - Hi = I also enjoyed seeing everyone at Dick and Judy's "Welcome Back" brunch on Sun. Must be Dick didn't know I was there! It's always great to see and converse with "old friends". Judy
Judy < kjlofft@hotmail.com >
USA - Hello everyone, I want to let you know that I thouroughly enjoyed the 'Welcome Back Brunch' for Dick and Judy on Sunday. It was great to see and talk with everyone - Dick did bring his camera so we hope that some pictures came out. Springside put two long tables together so we were able to talk comfortably and the florist put a small'57'banner on the centerpieces. It was a curiousity to the waitress and I told her that was the age of the group. Judy Lofft told us about the young gal employed at the store who cashed a $200 check for an unknown customer who came in to buy beer and cigarettes. Policy is $20 max above purchase. I think the money should come out of her pay since she had been told.-- Gary K and his wife, Dolly did take their trip to Nashville. He is spending much of his time picking up and delivering supplies for a store in Elbridge. Gordie and Ray arrived after a days work. Gordie gets up at 5 every morning. I don't don't feel so bad knowing that I am not the only one! What a great looking group this is. Dick and Judy are located in a beautiful spacious area and are methodically converting the house to their style. They graciously gave us a tour and Dick made coffee lattes.
Alicia Procino < aprocin@adelphia.net >
Auburn, NY USA - Judy and I would like to thank all those who attended the Brunch on Sunday. We had a great time and really enjoyed seeing everyone.. So let us give a special thanks to Gary Kenyon and his wife, Burt and Carol Ward, Gordy and Ray Weller, Den and Jenn Randall, Sue, Connie and Alicia for a great day. For those that may be interested Connie, Sue and Alicia came to the house following the brunch and ejoyed cappacino (sp), actually they were more like lattes, but at least I tried and cake.. so again Thanks Judy and Dick Brown ... Auburn, NY USA - Judy, welcome to the club....hehe...between California and New York we have the market on s....weather.....this past couple of weeks...hope all is well we are having our second fire tonite in the house...it is real chilly here..down to 45 degrees....it rained harder last nite for an hour han I can remember...we got an inch... but LA got over 5 inches of rain and parts of the city got hail that made it look like winter.... our main concern now are the mudslides that go along with the burn off from the fire.....who knows the way things are going out here , we could have a big earthquake next and become a new island on the west coast......just love it here ... something different all of the time.....good luck and stay safe...

Frogbutt , USA - Hi All - Thought I'd let you know that we are getting "blasted" in central NY. The wind has been blowing since about midnight with gusts 40 - 50 mph. It started snowing in Weedsport about 1:30 this afternoon and has gotten worse. It's very slippery and still snowing hard. Some areas have lost electric power. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't. It took my granddaughter, who works in downtown Syr. and lives in Camillus, an hour to get home tonite. Weather report says it will be like this thru the nite and tomorrow. Too early for this crap!! Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving! Later...........J

Frogbutt , USA - Jean and I have had an active fall season so far. We have finished the seacon at Mount Lebanaon Shaker Village and nearly have it closed up for the winter. We have also spent a week in Arazona and had a good time. The high altitude at the Grand Canyon was a little problem for Jean but the views were great. Now she wants to know where we a going next year.

I have about 12 feet to go, but it had to be built up to maintain the stonedust and gravel foundation. Hopefully we will have some warmer weather next week to allow me to finish the task. I have invited anyone in the area to Brunch at Springside on Sun, Nov 16th at 11:30 to welcome Dick and Judy Brown to the area. I need a firm number by midweek but if anyone is visiting, join us. weedsport, n y USA - Hi Everyone, Now that the summer is about over, thought I'd write and let you all know what we've done. Went to Long Island with Jen for State Special Olympics, where she particapated in swimming, 100 freestyle and back. Jen got a bronze medal in each event. Later we all (daughter's Jen and Bren, her husband Ron) decided to go to Maine, that's BAR HARBOR, MAINE, what a great time we had. Climb 2 mountain, I huffed and puffed all the way up, but I made it. We took in a Sunrise on top of Cadollac Mt. We had to be up there by 5:00am and the sun came up about 5:15am beautiful. We also took a whale watch, saw 15 sighting of whale and 1 seal. We went 22 miles out in the ocean and the temp. was 47 degrees the last week in July. We went across to Fryeburg Me and visited with friend from Florida and climbed a Mt.in New Hampshere. Stayed in a bed and breakfast in Vermont, then on to NY and visited the Ausable Chasm then home. About a 5 day trip. Aug Jen went to church camp, Pathfinder Lodge, near Cooperstown, NY and I went to Canada for a barbershop school called HITS and while we were away the blackout hit. Fran had to go get Jen at 8:00pm got home about 12:30am, in Canada we were without power for 24 hrs. no water, no flush, but we all survived. Sunday Aug.31 we spent with Bren and Ron on Seneca Lake on their boat. Jen went tubing, Bren water skied. Great summer!!!!! Sept. 5th I'll be having gallbladder surgery, it will be a walk in the park, I hope. Please say a little pray for me. Hope you all had a great summer and I surely enjoy all the messages on the message board. Hope I didn't over do. Oh and by the way WELCOME TO DICK AND JUDY BROWN TO AUBURN LOVE TO ALL, Barb Ward Ryan

I was in New York in July I went on the 19th of July. I went to the Union Springs doings and I ran into Joan Cuddy. I saw my first mud raceing with pick-ups and I also saw the lawm mower races. They were very intresting. Then I went to the 50 mile yard sales on Route 90. I forgot how busy route 90 was at that time of year. I also got to see champ. I didn't get to spend much time in my daughter's pool or hot tub as it rained almost everyday. I came home on August 3rd. It has been hot here all month with temps in the mid 100's.We have not had any rain in two months. Then they had the blackout, I call my daughter she lives in Union Springs and she said that she had lights. My son lives in Auburn and he had lights. Of course he lives on Grant Ave.

Well, during the "great blackout" I was happily driving throuagh Pennsylvania, quite unaware of it all!. When I stopped at a rest area near Wilkes Barre, someone told me to turn on the radio! When I arrived in Binghamton, half of the city had power and half didn't. Luckily I was staying with a cousin in the section that did! I had a short trip to visit relatives...didn't get to Weedport. It's been quiet here, but lots of rain! Love to all, Phyllis

Hi All - It's always interesting to see the latest events happening in others' lives. My daughter from Florida came for 10 days with her two yr old. Her visit allowed me a four day respite and a trip to the Canada cottage that my father built when he was 78 yrs old. My son came from California with his wife andtwo kids. Great - my kids come to visit and I leave! I traveled with my Chow who didn't sleep the entire trip and was very nervous. Like Judy, I had to make many unanticipated stops with him, making the trip much longer than expected. As I started north from Highway 401, I realized that I cannot quickly translate mph to km/hr. My car speedometer has one set of numbers, no longer both mph and km. About two miles up the road, a little red light gently reminded me to the tune of $150. I have yet to see the natives ever abide by the speed limits. Thereafter, I went exactly the spped limit, starting a parade of about fifteen cars within minutes. The driver just behind me tolerated it for as long as he could, finally went flying past and of course, the policeman again went flying past to snare another in his net. I spent a very peaceful four days, returned home to find an invasion of five additional adults and five grandchildren under the age of three. While it was wonderful to see them all, the usual quiet household was quite noisy. The last one left a day before the blackout. Our power was out for about 8 hours also, and it was a beautiful clear night with all the stars out and a nearly full moon. The planet, Mars, was clearly visible, and I understand that this is the closest to earth that it has been in 60,000 years. There were no major consequences but I took a ride to pick up some batteries and found that Grant Ave had never lost power, quickly selling out those items in demand - gasoline, milk, bread and beer. After the brief vacation, it's now time to return to work to finish the second half of a reatining wall that I started early this summer. The hardest part is done, the rest should go quickly, with only two layers of blocks needed the rest of the way. I am always glad to read notes from each of you, and the interesting treks you take. Hi - Got an e-mail from Joan H. today asking if we were in the "great blackout" We sure were. Port Byron and Weedsport lost power about 4:15 p.m.. I was at our store in Weedsport working. We couldn't get thru to NYSEG on their emergency number to try to find out what the problem was, but an employee coming into work at 4:30 had heard on the radio that it was effecting the whole northeast. We immediately locked our doors to take all the meat out of the display cases and get it into the big meat coolers. We knew it would be all right as long as the power came back on within 12 - 15 hrs.. We opened our doors again, and with flashlights helped a couple customers at a time pick up what they needed. Ice, milk, soda, snacks, and "beer" seemed to be the most important items! Oh, almost forgot - cigarettes, too! Luckily, our power was restored about 12:15 a.m.. The strange thing about this was that Cato, Conquest, parts of Auburn and parts of Syracuse {and I'm sure other places} were not effected. Love and later........J

Hi Everyone - Just read the new messages on the bulletin board. Joan, your 4th of July page is great! I was also at the alumni banquet. Must be whoever sent the list to Joan didn't see me! I was so surprised to see Helen and Mel Marshall. They both look great. Someone else who was there and I hadn't seen since before graduating, was Janet Hughes. She was there as a guest of Marilyn Beach who was in the Class of 58. She lives in South Butler, NY. Joan, I will get those pictures to you soon, I promise!

When the sell sheet is done I will have it posted on the page for all to see. My Granddaughter, Mia will be 4 years old tomorrow. Did you all know that Marcella's granddaughter's name is Mia and Lorna's daughter, Erica, has a dog named Mia ?..... Sue, Lorna and I had dinner in B'ville last night and of course we laughed and laughed. People thought we were the entertainment. Trying to get Lorna to come up in July -- we'll see.... A note about Marcella...... Nate sent me a message: ..... She is undergoing manipulation (she broke her arm last year) on her arm and will be in PT, 6 hours a day for three weeks. Some sort of arm moving machine (yes I checked his message and that is what he said). Sooo let's all send her notes of encouragement - Oops - forgot to mention it is her right arm sooooo we will not be receiving messages back. Hard cards probably would be appreciated...... Gotta go - I know so many of you are retired but there are still some of us that have to keep the economy going (myself too) .....Love to all..... Connie.....6-05-03

Hi all .....I'm sorry I won't be able to join this year at the Alumni Banquet - my last student from the high school riding club is getting married today, about my last tie to my former students.. ...... I was walking the dog the other day when he saw a cat and was a bit out of control, a neighbor offered to help hold the rope with me. I did manage on my own, but holding the 90 lb dog with a running start is a bit of a task! Later, another neighbor told me that the helper neighbor is going to marry 'the guy that owns Green Shutters'. If I have the name right, her name is Michele Leonello. Two kids, a girl about 12 and a boy who started driving so he must be sixteen this spring. Last summer two boys were drinking booze, one took a chemical drain cleaner and poured it on the other, resulting in severe neck and face burns and it is this sixteen yr old neighbor's son who is dealing with the scars...... so by nature of neighborhood gossip, apparently the wedding has yet to take place...... Joannie, the web page continues to be wonderfully creative, and I enjoy reading the messages and all the photos..... Di and Ron, what a thrill to have such a positive report from the radiologist...... The pictures from VA were great of all of you and the Hajis...... Gotta run, time to get my hubby up for lunch...... Enjoy the banquet and regards to all...... Alicia .....June 21, 2003

I have started saving some nickels for some hot gambling.....does anyone know if the Champ wedding came off yet....never did get a name of the bride....School is out here and traffic is out of control.....Please do not visit California if you are driving......leave the driving to us....gotta run.... hope to hear from SOMEONE on this message board... and Joan, we really enjoyed the Rainbows...and the bluebirds... we have 2 families of them here on the Back Acher Ranch and they go thru 500 meal worms a week but they sure are fun to watch.....Geez what is happening to me, watching birds and grass grow... Don't know if he told you be Bob Hirons retired again for the upteen time. Nice going Bob. Judy and I were back in NY the weekend of the icestorm. We are looking for a house to buy so that I can retire from my current job. Want to work full time for at least another year. Maybe at Lowe's or when it opens the new Bass Pro Shops. It would be nice to move back before the end of summer. Either way we will be there in late August as we have rented a cottage in King Ferry on Cayuga lake.. I've lost a couple of classmates. Is there anyone out there who can "find" them? (smile) Carlton Jennings was last in Sacramento CA, Sarah (Short) Kimball was last in Washington, DC, Charles Pine was last in Agoura California. We are looking forward to our big party. We're going to meet at my house (Weedsport) on Saturday afternoon, then the alumni banquet, then to CJ's afterward. Then we'll have lunch Sunday at Old Erie. By the way, I loved all the pictures from your reunion. What a bunch of "party animals" you are. I love it. My email address is if you have any input on classmates. Thanks and have a great Easter. I loved the photos! A quick trip down memory lane: When I worked in Hannibal as a DRE at Our Lady of the Rosary, (about 20 yrs. ago!), I reconnected with Mabel Robinson. Then I left and didn't reconnect until she was in the nursing home there. I kept track of her and visited her several times. I was notified when she died and was able to attend her funeral. I don't remember the date, but it was about 9 years ago, and she was well in her 90's. She always looked the same! Next week I am going to northern Ireland for about 10 days with a group from here. We'll nbe doing some sightseeing, but we are spending two days with the Corrymeela Community, an ecumenical justice and peace center that works with school groups and others to bring peace between Protestant and Catholic groups in Northern Ireland. I was in Rochester during the recent ice storm. I had stopped to see Sue briefly. She's going to be doing her silhouettes at local craft fairs. Look for her there! Happy Easter to all! Phyllis T.

I was trying to think of something interesting to tell all of you about my trip (didn't take one), new computer (didn't get one)new baby (don't want one)new car (need one) I guess something interesting would be that it is snowing here in central NY. This message is so queer but I felt I wanted to say something this A.M. before I start out on Valentines Day Hey HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! Remember those little valentines we used to send to each other in school? What patience Mom had to sit with me and help me print all those names. Once I lost my valentines on the way home from school. What a teary disaster. Mom walked me back and I found them in front of Zimmer's house. Boy I was one happy camper. Then when you got home you had to count and see how many valentines you received. Sue, Marcella, Lorna and I did that did the rest of you?

Hi y'all! I'm fixin' to learn some southern dialect but those are the only two words I know. I've been out of the loop with - getting viruses removed, a new email address, and just doing "stuff". So what's up with Ron? What happened? And I didn't know about Dave either. How is he doing? I'm glad to hear Barb and Bob arrived safely home. I don't have much news - only questions. Oh, Ron, I came across a magazine called Railroad Gardening. It is very appealing - I think it would be a fun hobby but I couldn't do it where we live. We are in a retirement park and the "yard police" would report me to the management. How about an "underground railroad garden"? Hmmm..... Love to you all, Lorna

Hi to everyone from snowy mideastern PA. We arrived home from our cross country RV trip on Feb. 9th. The weather was COLD everyplace except San Diego (96 degrees) and Tuscon ranged in the 70's. We enjoyed the Florida reunion that you've been reading about. Lorna led us around Cypress Gardens just like a teacher. It was great that she knew where she was going. Thanks again to Lorna and Joan for making all of the arrangements. We also had a great visit with Di and Ron at their great CA. homestead. Hope everyone is enjoying the winter weather. While we were on our trip, we stopped to visit former neighbors in VA. One of the gals works for Army Intelligence and she discussed the preparedness list that they were told to do for the "orange alert." Here it is for those of you that are interested. 1. Keep automobile gas tanks on FULL at ALL times. 2. Keep a stock of bottled water. 3. Keep plenty of CASH on hand at ALL times. 4. Keep pantry well stocked with canned goods. 5. Have an extra supply of any prescription meds you need. 6. Have a medical first aid kit. 7. Have a battery operated radio with extra batteries. 8. Keep flashlights readily available with extra batteries. 9. Keep heavy duty plastic wrap and duct tape on hand to place over windows. 10. Have an alternataive or back up place for you and family to go other than your home. 11. Have a DETAILED PLAN of where the family members are to meet in case of an EMERGENCY. Reminds me of the Civil Defense Plans of yester years huh? Let's hope and pray that no one will every need to carry out these plans. Wishing you all blessings and peace!!

HEY What happened to Ron. Was it the knee thing? Did you have the injection that we talked about at the reunion? Let me know as I have an old tennis injury (from the circuit not circus but circuit) that I heard that this treatment might work. My Mom has finished her radiation and thanks to all who remembered her. It is hard when you are 83 lots of your friends have moved on (a long way off ya get the drift) or are in places where they can't use a phone (I guess that goes for the ones a long way off too) Mom is fortunate to have my brother Roger down the road. Rog is retired (took early from Carrier) and he helps out a lot when Dan and Craig are on the road. Glad to hear Mary Ann and Dave are coming along. It was good to see all your Christmas wishes. I guess I will wish you all a Mary (as Dick Brown says) Valentine's Day. I guess I am rambling and I had better get ready for work yes I am still working (probably will until they tell me I am not moving my walker fast enough). Punch's sister Judy recently underwent surgery to remove a tumor that was pressing against her tyroid was very successful. She is now recovering, it was benign. By the way Judy is my sister-in-law. And my brother-in-law Ben Mack is recovering from having a pacemaker installed. They are still trying to find the correct setting so that his heart does not beat to rapidly. All is well in Indiana. They don't know what to do with snow here. We currently have the 6th snowest winter in 100 years. Let it snow, let it snow..

Hi Everyone:...Well here I am in what is supposed to be sunny Florida, but instead it is liquid sunshine.... We are here at Joan and Fred's house for the afternoon and later "out to dinner"...Weather here still beats New York State....The mini Florida reunion was a great success with many thanks to Lorna and Joan.... The whole weekend will never be forgotten, many laughs, much reminising, catching-up and a few hidden tears....Ron also enjoyed the weekend listening to past memories, and present conversations....Looking forward to seeing classmates again.... Love to you all.... Phyl....Sunday, February 9, 2003

Well here we go on another new year.....we have had a lot of old friendships rekindled as a result of our fantastic get together this past summer for our 45th and most definitely the advent of our website ....thank you Joan ...Dick Brown, thanks for the Marshmallow World at christmas time, I played it over and over and sent along to alot of friends, it was my favorite of the season, for Rose I only feel bad that her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes had such a bad day....not a good way to bring in the new year...but Rose, there is always next year....had they come to the Rose Bowl they would have whupped Washington State....Lorna, Thank you for the nice prayer for our service men, I have passed it along to all of my old shipmates and friends...Diane is going to have her Catscan on the 13th ...we are hoping this thing is gone this time......we are looking forward to a visit with the Welch's as they head west after the mini reunion in FL...I just sent Bob a note telling him we have been in the mid 80's this past week and expect it to stay thru next week...I mowed the lawn today as it got away from me after our rain before christmas ....I have been enjoying taking pics with the digital camera... and being able to download the the computer and then only printing off the ones that I want....the ability to store on a disk is nice as opposed to the albums that almost fill a closet it the house...the technology came just in time or I would be looking for another closet.....gotta run ... I havent seen many msgs on this board since before the holidays.... lets not forget it is there....it is a great medium for communication...

Wishing all a happy, healthy New Year filled with many blessings. The family arrived on the 20th and all 16 stayed for a week. Needless to say we are ready for a quiet New Year! We had 8" of snow of Xmas day. Central PA doesn't get snow like NY. On a sad note - we lost a close family friend Dec.16th, from Syr. NY - Jack Goleski. I know Ron and Diane knew Jack. Joan thanks again for the great job your doing - We think your very special!! - Hugs to all.

Hi Everyone! Yes, North Carolina got snow and ice last week! I lost power on Thurs. a.m. Fortunately I had planned to leave town for the weekend so I only spent one night in a cold house. When I got back on Sunday our power was restored. I understand that there are still areas without power. The snow is melting but it's still icy undefoot. We usually get snow in January. I'm not sure what this winter will bring! I plan to spend Christmas in Fla. with my family (hope it's warm there!) Love, Phyllis

THANKS FOR ASKING, JOAN, REGARDING THE GOOD OLE NYS WEATHER. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING SNOWFALL AND IT SEEMS LIKE ALOT COMPARED TO LAST YEAR. HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOT HAD SCHOOLS CLOSED AROUND HERE BUT UP NORTH AROUND OSWEGO, THEY HAVE HAD ALOT. IT IS IN THE HIGH TEENS AND A FEW DAYS WENT INTO THE 30'S SO WE NORTHERNERS WON'T COMPLAIN. HOWEVER, THE WEATHER DOWN SOUTH DOES SOUND INVITING. ONE OF OUR SONS JUST CAME BACK FROM FLORIDA AND THEY WERE KIDDED BY THE SOUTHERNERS WHO WERE WEARING THEIR THERMALS WHILE THEY HAD ON THEIR SHORTS. NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US. MAY EVERYONE HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR THAT IS SAFE AND ABUNDANT IN GOOD HEALTH. AL/RUTH

Hi from "Winter Wonderland." We've have about 6" of snow and it is truly beautiful. Of course, we don't have to get out in it so that makes it more beautiful. We are on a lakefront property that is on top of a mountain (elevation 1500') so we see alot of snow here. Fortunately, we haven't lost our power as so many have from this storm on the east coast. If we loose power, we'll go to our RV where we have a generator. Today, we "dig out." We are going south in Jan. and hope to see several of the members of '57ers there. Then we head west and hope to visit Di and Ron. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable winter season.

Hello class of 57, I wasn't born yet in 57 but in 1960 I was. I went to school at WCS until 1967. My mom and dad did too. I think they were a year or 2 ahead of you all. My best friend back then was Scott Saroodis. I lived on Jackson St. next to the VanDusens and 2 houses from the Vasoskis. I was fond of Melissa Zimmer (we were in kindergarten together). Anyway, if you ever see any of the above mentioned folks, tell 'em Craig says Hi! It's been 35 years, they may not remember me. Talk to you later Aunt Joanie.

Greetings to you all! Carl and I just returned from a quick trip to Miami and then the Everglades. You can have Miami - it's interesting but not a place I'd go back to often. The Everglades is a different story. We stayed in a cabin in Flamingo (southern most spot) so that we could be up early in the AM to go bird watching. It was extremely quiet except for the wonderful nature sounds. We are amateur bird watchers but saw turtles, marsh rabbits, alligators, and snakes up close. Are any of you out there bird watchers? Hope you see some of you in Florida on Jan. 10th - 11th. (Cyress Gardens) Lorna

The message board is marvelous! What a terrific job. Thanks Joan. I was also in NY in Oct. but never set foot in Weedsport. I feel like a traitor! I stayed at our daughter's home in Liverpool. My brother drove in to see me and then we all traveled to Potsdam to visit my sister. This was the first Northern Fall I've seen in 6 years. Dan and I picked apples and I brought back loads of them in 3 different suitcases. I hope to see some of you in January at Cypress Gardens. Joan - You're doing a great job! What would we do without you? Judy Smith (Kappasser) came in our store today and we had a nice little chat. She and Barb Melvin are getting together on Tues. before she heads back to Texas. Don't know if you remember Joyce Stevens who was in our class for a few years but she passed away on Thurs.. I'm sure some of the class will remember her. She was married to Jimmy Sheehan who died a few years ago. Keep the messages coming! Later........Judy
